Any such return, if designed by our current Political/Bankster Classes, will build-in mechanisms for manipulation and the problems will not go away.
If a return to a Gold Standard is brought about by a collapse or implosion, it is likely to be a "real" Gold Standard.

No single method will work, as no single method of oppression has worked us to our current state. It has been politics & voting coupled with selective acts of brutal violence (distributed by Government working on their own behalf and on behalf of third parties) couipled with corporate, organized greed, with a few other odds & ends thrown in the mix.

I own every word I've ever written. I own the fact that I call myself a III Patriot, because I know where I'll be when SHTF. I own responsibility for some of the discord in the Community by my actions. I own the satisfaction of having built a few bridges and helping grow the Community, however modestly.
I own that there will be more problems, and I own my place in this thing we call the Liberty Movement.
For myself, I own the III label and proudly apply it to myself. I know exactly when, how and why I will take action and I will own the fallout. Whether I leave the world better or worse for my having been in it will be measured subjectively by many, and most harshly by me.
A label should not be something others apply to you. Do not permit others to define you. If they do, at least do not give them the power to affect your actions or philosophy. A label, such as a III Patriot, is what you wear as definition of yourself.
Most of us have several labels that apply. I am a Husband, an Uncle, a Friend to a few, a brother by blood to one and a Brother without blood to another. And when I look for my place in the Liberty Movement, I best quantify and qualify my position with the III label. The word Patriot fits, but to my tastes is too broad.
I am a III Patriot.
I own it.

American Politics, academia and Unions are infested with Communists and they are the enemies of Liberty responsible for every infringement upon you and your family today.
When the time comes for a fight, you need venture no further than your local Union Halls, City Hall & College Campus to engage the enemies. Do not forget that, like Muslims, a Communist considers a lie told to further his cause to be noble.

There already exist several programs for "Approved Travellers" run by our Government. Here is a sample.
Our Masters are already calling for expanded TSA checkpoints, as we all saw coming last year.
With the infrastructure in place and conditioning Americans by the millions every year, how long will it be before the solution to the hassle of going to the corner convenience store is solved with your Government Issued Internal Passport?
At first Big Uncle will ease into the Papers! demands without making you do anything special - they'll simply begin asking for your Driver's License. Soon enough there will be calls for a more "secure" set of paperwork, issued by Big Uncle.
We already know that the vast majority of our Countrymen will shrug and accept.
A few will grumble.
Will this be what finally leads a Patriot to a genuine ...not one more inch... moment?

And not one Politician is even campaigning on the remedies that are required: Full Stop on Entitlements, Lower taxes, Stop sticking our foreign policy nose into the business of other nations...just for starters.

Many humans have a weakness: We prefer to see what we want to see, rather than the reality that is in our face.
If you consider yourself a Patriot, whether a III Patriot or not, there will come a time in our very near future when failing to identify what is before you will likely result in imprisonment or death.
It's easier to believe. Those pesky warning signs that niggle our thoughts can't be right!
Once a person has invested himself into a paradigm, he becomes willing to ignore what is obvious to protect his investment.
People do not like to be wrong. At its core it is a function of Ego.
