In an ugly battlespace your survival will depend on doing things that most men have never done. I am not worried about men who have never really been fighters, or soldiers or martial artists. This veneer of civilization, this facade that separates us from our true nature as Hunter-Gatherers is whisper-thin.
It will not take much exposure to real danger for the average man to unleash the inner animal. You'll be better prepared if you take the time and invest the mental energy now to work through the emotional aspects of behaving in a truly ugly fashion.
Self Defense is the moral high ground in any conflict. If another man intends to harm you or kill you, or anyone in your Tribe, you have the natural law right to defend yourself and kill him, and in my world, you do not need to wait until he makes the first move.
If you have decided that violence is imminent, act. If you remain in the moral safe-zone of self defense, your conscience should not haunt you for being ugly. And in the Ruckus many folks see coming our way, there will be brutal, horrific violence for a long time, months at least, perhaps years.
Reconcile now, if you are able, that when you must grab a man by his belt and pull him toward you because his 1911 is pointed at you, center mass, and he intends to kill you and have your women, it is self defense. When you make your move and risk everything by doing the unexpected and pulling him close so you can sink your KA-BAR to the hilt in his belly, then rip upward as the stink of his blood and guts wash over you, it is self defense. When his body begins to convulse and he tries to process what is happening, and you push the muzzle aside, and you draw the blade again, opening a new wound, it is self defense as he dies, shuddering on your blade.
Or, when LEO crushes resistance and everyone goes to the bread line on Tuesdays, and LEO has a routine of coming and disappearing people on Thursday nights, and you know your neighbor helps the government machine do its work by processing the arrest orders at City Hall - when you ambush him one day on his way to work and use a claw hammer to end his paper processing career, it is self defense.
Weapons and gear can help. But as General Patton was quoted, wars are won by men who take the decision to fight and win.
Our Constitution, Declaration and Bill of Rights were written in the hope that moral men would hold the seats of power, taking violence out of politics. But they specifically wrote into our documents their understanding that if amoral or immoral men take power and use that power to steal your Liberty, there is usually only one way to take it back.
You will have to take your 2A tools, whether a slick black rifle, or a basic 1911, or an old, second-hand KA-BAR, or a claw hammer from the shed, and go to work. The work is ugly and it can be hard on the Soul, even if you remain in the safe moral territory of self defense.
You are the man who is responsible for ensuring that you live and die at Liberty.

Mozart has more on the 29 Palms survey (as noted in a post below, this is the one that determined a significant number of active Marines in 1994 would fire upon US Citizens if ordered to do so).
Lose your illusions, Patriots. The vast majority of the people in the .mil who will point their weapons at you have no idea what the Constitution says or means - they will follow orders, assuming that their actions are protecting the Constitution, for that is what they'll be told.
Especially in the early stages of a Ruckus, .mil will execute their orders.

Several in our community have had drive-bys over the last few weeks.
The Senate approved the NDAA authorizing the .mil to classify Americans as Terrorists without any access to Constitutional protections.
And Alex Jones is reporting tonight that FEMA has activated detention camps.
Are these dots to be connected? We shall see. My DefCon alarm isn't even tingling at the moment. I think they may be laying the ground, but will not scoop up the first wave of Patriots until there is an act of some significance to be used as justification.
The moment you see that act on Fox, I would suggest changing your DefCon status.

Brock's linked to a good article about LEO getting goodies from the military.
They also get quite a bit of training from current and former military.
CA made an excellent point: Most LEO and members of the military will follow their orders, for they rely on the paycheck to feed their families.
Until that paradigm changes - until it becomes more dangerous for LEO and American-based military to go to work than to stay home, Citizens will be hunted, and there is no bag limit.

InfoWars is reporting that the London Police Department is classifying their Occupy idiots as Terrorists.
Stupid, yes. Over-educated and lacking common sense, yes. Politically infantile and naive or malevolent, yes. Enemies of Liberty, (some by choice, some by stupidity), yes.
But, Terrorists? Not so much.
You are watching what we all knew would happen - the Governments of the Western World have been compromised by Enemies of Liberty and are intent upon imposing hard tyranny upon their Citizens. They imposed laws against "Terrorists", who were all from those evil Muslim countries.
But then they decided to call their own people Terrorists and use those laws internally.
Does this sound familiar: First they came for the Jews, but I was silent because I am not a Jew...
You know the rest. You know our own DHS and various other agencies, Fed & State, have been declaring we on the political Right to be dangerous Terrorists. The US Congress just imposed a law upon We the People that will make legal the same actions that Adolf Hitler took against his political enemies.
You'll remember that his actions were made to be legal, too.
Every day it becomes more obvious that the Enemies of Liberty intend to make their move on the last vestiges of Patriotism during the spring and summer of 2012.
You should be preparing for violence to be directed at you by your Government in the very near future. The best way to avoid a punch is o be somewhere else. If you intend to engage, you'd better come hard.

I will continue to cling to the ideals of Restoration at the same time, and work toward that end. I'm too old and grumpy to bother learning Chinese, Russian, Spanish or Communist. I do not accept that America's best days are behind us. (Not asserting that CA takes that position).
We can return to a state of Liberty, a state that existed from the time of Revolution One to Lincoln's Revolution. Whether we will choose to do the work is another matter. But we do not need to match the Enemies of Liberty man for man...because one Patriot is worth hundreds of FSA genetic garbage.
One day, I'll be dead and all of this will be someone else's problem.

He'll be hosting a PatriotCon at his place for you folks in his neck of the woods. Whether you make it to TL's event, or choose to show your support by doing something local, it is a good thing for the Community whenever Patriots can get together and look one another in the eyes. Our "Community" is divided, as Bill notes. Some people work hard to make sure there is always strife.
The Enemies of Liberty are moving fast now, folks. The average American simply can't make it through the day without committing a crime of some sort, and it seems that most States are moving just as fast as is FedGov to criminalize as many acts as possible. Almost all of your neighbors will See Something and Say Something about you, especially for an extra bread chit for the WalMart FEMA Center.
Find a way to meet one another now, before it's too late. Be prudent. Several in our Community have had the fist of Government swinging for them. Bill & TL are two examples. When you start taking flak, you're near the target. And it isn't only FedGov that is on the hunt for Patriots. The locals are worse in many cases. But, I suspect that the time is rapidly approaching when our politicians will learn the hard way that real Americans can fight City Hall...and win.
It is sad to think that we Patriots are so rare these days that we must travel so far just to meet another person who shares our world view. Sure, there are more. But most will not Awaken until it is too late. Then, most of those folks will be part of that mob, guys with a deer rifle and a few rounds left from last season, out looking for your prep stockpiles...
If you can't (or choose not to) make it to TL's gig, I hope you'll follow Bill's lead and get together with as many Patriots as you can find in your region.
I haven't yet had the chance to meet Bill face to face, but he's had my back several times online already, public and private. You folks in his AO are lucky to have him nearby, because when it gets hot, he'll be there.

If you are younger than 35 or so and participating in an Occupy event, it's not your fault.
It is not your fault that you expect such an easy life, and I can understand that as you left high school or college and hit the real world you were surprised and angered to find that the real world has little in common with your expectations and your experiences thus far. You see, your expectations were skewed by idiots for your entire childhood and through your college years. Too often, your family is listed among the idiots who are responsible for your unrealistic expectations.
You were not prepared for reality, for a world where the productive not only survive, but prevail, and a world in which performance is rewarded and a lack of performance is penalized. Many of you were forced to endure schools that would not keep score at school sport events, lest there be losing teams and your little feelings would be hurt. You were forced to struggle through classes that were originally intended to teach you how to think for yourself, how to read, write and compute...yet teachers often would not even use a red marker to grade your papers, lest your little feelings be hurt for having made an error.
Indeed, you were rarely wrong. You merely failed to reach the same conclusion as everyone else when you said 2+2=5. No worries. Your feelings and self esteem were always more important than the silly arithmetic exercises, anyway.
Until, of course, you graduated and found yourself in the real world where 2+2 is always 4, and any other answer is always wrong.
It really isn't your fault. You are victims, but not of the evil corporations that will not hire you. You are the victims of Communists who have deliberately gutted the education system in America for generations, with the intent of weakening the intellect of young American adults and instilling moral relativism at a fundamental level. There is much more to this story than is necessary for this post. Simply understand that you are, indeed, a victim.
But that corporate CEO was not one of your teachers who failed to teach you. That corporate CEO is not your parent who let stupid people have control of the knowledge that was put into your brain for your entire educational experience. Now, that corporate CEO may well be a greedy, amoral, or even immoral bastard, but it is not his fault that you were victimized.
Look around your little Occupy camp at the "Leaders", especially the older ones - say anyone over 40. Toward whom are they directing your anger? Think it through for a few minutes: Are the people toward whom your "Leaders" are directing your anger really responsible for your position in life? If you answer yes, then reason it through and explain it to yourself, articulate it, so that you can prove it. Not to me, not to your professor, but to yourself.
Being honest with oneself is often the hardest thing to do in life.
For instance: If you are complaining about the fact that you owe student loans, look first to the mirror. Did you agree to take the money so you could go to college, get a better education than those who chose not to attend college, and in return pay that money back, with interest, over a period of years after graduating because you expected to get a better job than if you had not attended college? Did you choose which courses you would take in college? Were those courses filled with knowledge that is marketable, in sufficient demand, thus permitting you to be hired, earn a paycheck and repay the loans?
Are there any Union folks in your camp, steering your anger in one direction or another? Ask yourself why. What do they gain by your anger?
Most of you are simply young and have been the victims of a plot that has spanned many generations, a plot intended to dominate the world through the Communist political system. Those who have been working toward this goal have purposefully deprived you of the skills you need to think critically, so that they can manipulate you through your emotions for their own ends.
Many people have been where you are now, trying to figure out why things arew working, or not working, as promised. Many people never figure out the truth. A lucky few Awaken, and are gifted with the ability to see the world as it truly exists.
I tell you these things because you deserve to know what is happening to you, what has happened, how you arrived at this place, and by whose efforts. You also deserve to know why, one day soon if you continue this course and speed, you will likely be confronted by angry Americans who accuse you of violating their natural Rights and are willing to use any means necessary to make you stop.
It may not be your fault, but that does excuse your behavior.
You are violating the natural Rights and innate Liberties of your fellow Countrymen by demanding that Government take from them the fruits of their labors and redistribute to others.
You are not alone. This has been happening, by design, for many generations. And while it is not your fault that you have been manipulated, it is your fault and you will suffer the consequences of your actions if you persist in the acts of injuring your Countrymen.
The clashes between your groups and the police are also by design. Those who are manipulating you are doing the same to the law enforcement community. Watch, study your own movement, and you will see that in the spring and summer of next year as the election cycle gets hot, your Occupy "Leaders" will work very hard to inflame your emotional outrage and turn that anger into violence against property, the police, and their political enemies.
Yes, there are many bad people in the banking world, the corporate world, and certainly in the political class. Yes, they must pay for the injuries they have inflicted. But there is a bigger picture, and you need to recognize it.
I encourage you to take a few hours and read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights (especially the preamble to the Bill of Rights) and try to read the text through the lens of men who wrote those documents in the pursuit of personal Liberty. Forget the definitions and interpretations your school teachers and college professors offered you about the documents: Read the words and apply your own intellect.
You have no Right to the labor of another human being against his will. You have no Right to demand that Government do that very crime against your Countrymen on your behalf, or on behalf of any other person.
If you read the DoI, the Constitution and the BoR, and you consider a Government and a nation managed as outlined in those documents, I am confident that you will understand that the America we have today is not what our Founders intended. It has been perverted, and many generations of Americans, including yours and mine, have been manipulated by evil people for self-enrichment at the expense of your Liberty.
In an America operating as intended, your complaints would probably fade away.
You and I can find common ground if we agree to work for a genuine Restoration of the Constitution, as ratified and implemented within the spirit of the Declaration and Bill of Rights. If you and I work together to achieve that goal, we can be rid of the evil people who have injured you - the real people responsible for your plight, not the scapegoats - and then we can live together as Countrymen, in Liberty.
If we can not agree to work toward Restoration as described in the last paragraph, then we are dangerously at odds.

California's politicians are about to establish amnesty for illegals.
The entire US Southwest is being reclaimed by demographics.
For you folks that want secession, or Balkanization, or anarchy, whatever, I have to ask how you can honestly expect to live in peace at Liberty with a Mexico that occupies the current borders of California, or a full-blown Communist California?
Before you start hurling the Lincoln insults, and the arguments that the People of California have the natural Right to do as they wish, please remain in the real world long enough to tell me how a Communist or Mexican California does not endanger the people of Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, et cetera.
I firmly believe that only those who love, want, and respect Liberty (especially the Liberty of others) are allowed to live within our current borders. Before you dive into the fascism charges, understand that this is a matter of survival: A Mexican or Communist California will come to kill you, despite your "higher and more evolved sense of Liberty" that permitted them to have California real estate...even faster than will your hated ATF/FBI/EPA Gestapo that you worry about constantly.
I do not simply complain about problems. I have a fix for it.
We evict those who do not believe in Jeffersonian Liberty (or at least respect it and do not infringe it), and those who are left within the borders of California can do whatever they wish...within the spirit of the DoI. The spirit of the DoI does not negate my solution.

Whether you imagine a 300 or 30 yard conflict, I can not counsel you strongly enough to expect a series of savage 3 inch conflicts. That 1911 will run dry and in many circumstances you will not be able to reload before one or more enemies are in your personal space.
If you don't have time to draw and feed that autoloader, you probably won't have time to draw and employ that Ka-Bar or wicked looking Cold Steel tomahawk.
Belt-to-belt fighting will be in your future if this ugliness goes hot. It may only be when the nice policeman (or thanks to our US Senate) the nice Army Private reaches for your wrists to begin the process of handcuffing you.
I can't teach you how to handle that, not on a blog nor in the book that I have decided to write (since there does seem to be interest) about savage CQB techniques. I can tell you, show you, but you have to do it.
You are the man who will be standing there, fighting for your life. You are the man responsible, right now, for learning how to break the body of an enemy that you have taken the decision to break.
Forget the movies. Every man in a real fight at close quarters will bet hit, bruised, and bloody (yours or his, usually both). One (most often both) will have injuries afterward that require real healing time. I do not care how many years of martial arts you have had, you will get punched, kicked, possibly broken, maybe killed.
Victory? That is a word you'll have to learn to define for yourself.
In my world Victory does not mean, necessarily, being alive at the end of the fight.
Victory in my world is making sure the other guy is dead. If I have to take the journey with him, so be it. I win.
Learn to hit and get hit. Learn what it is like to get bloody in a training class because you've taken a head-butt and split your lip, or you've somehow gotten a scalp cut that pours blood all over you and your training partner. Learn not to tap at these moments - these are the moments that are as real as you can get...until it is real.
I promise you, the sweat and blood mixed with adrenaline that will be present in a belt-to-belt fight will make many of your dojo techniques useless.
Your mind is the weapon.
Make sure you prep it, too. Make it hard. Lose your illusions.
