Bump
Several have sent me this story - thanks for the heads-up.
LEO served a warrant and got handed their asses. 6 LEO shot, one DOA.
One person "...suspected of drug activity..." wounded.
The injured officers were identified as Sgt. Nate Hutchinson with the Weber County Sheriff's Office; and Jason Vanderwarf, Shawn Grogan, Kasey Burrell and Michael Rounkles. CNN affiliate KSL said Vanderwarf is with the Roy, Utah, police and Grogan, Burrell and Rounkles are Ogden officers.
Be sure to send flowers.
You will see this again. And again.
CNN's version, here.
Another version, here.
Note to LEO: Stop acting like thugs & gang bangers, you'll stop being treated like thugs & gang bangers.
But you won't stop. You'll use this as an excuse to come heavier and harder.
What will you do when Citizens stop waiting for you at home? What will you do when they start hunting? What will you do when they come to your house?
Because it will happen. Real Americans do not tolerate animals roaming free indefinitely.
Think about it.

Troop reductions
President Obama is proposing significant cuts in military spending, primarily, it appears, in the number of Soldiers and Marines.
In principle, I have no problem reducing the number of boots. I am not fond of a standing Army. A lean, capable and professional Marine Corps is all we need on active duty as regards putting boots on the ground to hold a piece of real estate when it really matters.
We can call up volunteers to fill Army boots if we get into a pickle. Such an arrangement would also inhibit the Executive's ability to launch incursion after incursion. If people refuse to show up when called, because they do not support the mission, we'll be far less Imperial.
Our defense as a nation in today's world can be handled by a prudently designed and outfitted Navy for global force projection, and leave the skies and space to the Air Force. Drones can be deployed to do considerable work, without risking your son's life. Our nuclear Big Stick will keep serious threats at bay.
Of course, all of this is contingent upon having Leaders who will pull the trigger when necessary.
But We the People will be far less imperiled if we reduce the number of combat-ready Soldiers in uniform, looking for something to blow up and someone to kill. And no American should be on station to die for Europeans or Koreans.
In principle I'm supportive of this move. But the devil is in the details.
Here's one story on the topic.

IIIPercent.com
You and I are the III.
To build our Brand, the people we meet need a place to begin their Awakening.
To that end I have decided to dedicate IIIPercent.com to our purpose, and turn it into a Landing Page and Portal for our Community. It will remain very simple, a place for new allies to start discovering our blogs. We'll list the blogs of our Community so that when you hand a potential ally a business card or flyer he/she will have a starting point.
Does anyone have a problem with the concept, or a better idea?

Four more years of this?
PJB lays out what four more years of President Obama will look like for the country, from a political perspective.
Where he doesn't go is to the fallout.
Another term of the current Administration will surely see economic collapse and serious violence from sea to shining sea.

Mark Levin: 'We Have a Constitutional Crisis'
At one point, Levin likened the explanation Obama made yesterday for appointing these federal officials without Senate confrmation to the "forthright statement of a dictator."

On the other hand, Bad People rarely stop trying to reach their goals.

UPDATE: The White House has obviously caught the Freudian slip and the President is carefully reading a modified version of the speech today, here.
“I refuse to take ‘No’ for an answer. I’ve said before that I will continue to look for every opportunity to work with Congress to move this country forward. But when Congress refuses to act in a way that hurts our economy and puts people at risk, I have an obligation as president to do what I can without them,” according to the prepared remarks.
President Obama today regarding the non-recess recess appointment. Also, look at that sentence structure - Freudian? "When Congress refuses to act in a way that hurts our economy..."

UPDATE: Hot mic catches Pentagon reporter mocking a Ron Paul Presidency, here.
You know it and I know it, but it doesn't hurt once in a while to watch it with our own eyes.
A three page Politico story about the GOP primaries, about strategy for the candidates, with multiple mentions of Newt, Santorum, even Bachmann...
...and not one single mention of Ron Paul.
When Colleges are offering credit for joining Occupy, when grade school kids are being forced to sing Occupy songs, when the media is nothing but a PR machine for the Communist Agenda, when the Judiciary is filled with anti-Constitutionalists, when bureaucracies have been filled with Enemies of Liberty who focus only on their own survival as a bureaucratic entity, forget about winning hearts and minds.
Focus on finding a few allies who already think as do you. Take that as a win.
Then, Resist.
By any means necessary.
Here's the Politico story, if you care.

Building the III Brand
How do we grow our community?
First, we need to recognize that building a political movement with advertising, such as buying ad space in traditional media, simply won't work. Buying III ads at Stacey McCain's blog isn't going to get it done. Spending for an ad in WSJ or NYT is wasted money.
Politics is a particularly personal matter, and to build alliances you must go grassroots.
The best way to raise awareness is to wear advertising (hats/shirts/lapel pins/patches), which conveys to people that you are willing to spend your money on the Brand, therefore you are serious.
Just as importantly, contact must be personal. Think CQB rather than stand-off sniper engagements. We must be willing to get into the mix and disseminate our message. Whether at the water cooler at work or in a Tea Party rally with hundreds or thousands of people it is a good idea to give people a business card or some other written media (bookmarks/flyers/etc) so they can return to the topic at their convenience. Getting yourself on the podium for 5 minutes while wearing your III cap works, too.
Conversations are also good, but time is an issue and you'll rarely win the support of a Patriot in a few minutes. (You wouldn't be sold in 5 minutes, either) And if you are at a big event, you'll get worn out trying to have the same conversation with 100 people.
Also very effective are efforts online such as going to blogs and simply interacting by leaving thoughtful, reasoned comments (not arguments, derision and snarks) in places where the audience should be filled with our natural allies. Add III to your signature, and your blog/website, or a link to WRSA. This is a slower process, but it will yield results.
I've added 2 polls on the right with suggestions for gear. You can click on more than one. Let me know what you think will be the most effective use of our resources for spreading the word.
My thoughts: I'd like to see Patriots sporting III caps, patches on gear, and slapping III stickers everywhere (especially at Occupy camps and D hangouts). Also, I think printing up III business cards or a bookmark (perhaps with the second amendment printed on it) as handouts at political events and gun shows is an inexpensive and effective way to disseminate the message to the widest possible group.
Think about handing out III business cards (perhaps with links to several of our blogs) at your next gun show and at your gun shops. Think about handing out bookmarks with the same promotional message at Occupy events, Tea Party gigs and your local Libertarian politicians party. It allows you to cover a large number of people in a low-pressure manner.
III to Liberty is too long and too expensive to use as a mass-handout. But, a well-designed booklet with the DoI, Constitution, BoR, and a list of III bullet points and websites might be a good handout in some venues, where a simple business card might be too little.
What are your thoughts? How do we best use our limited resources to reach the largest number of allies?
Here's a version of the button w/o Resist.

Establishment R's say they are pissed about the recess appointments, and that the President is ignoring the Constitutional demands of Advise & Consent.
The Courts will probably punt, claiming it is a political problem (according to Judge Napolitano).
Let's see if the R's in the House find their mettle and de-fund the agencies involved.

Brief Analysis
The numbers will settle pretty close to current reporting.
My perspective: Santorum peaked at the perfect moment, but I suspect he will fade rapidly just as Newt, Michelle, et al.
Mitt can't get over 25% anywhere (except NH, probably), which indicates that even tonight people are still hungry for an "Anyone-but-Mitt" alternative. He may just take the nomination with such mediocre numbers, however.
Ron Paul: He will continue to suffer the sabotage of the Establishment, even in the face of Sarah's warning that doing so will backfire. The Establishment doesn't respect her any more than they do Ron Paul, so her warning will go unheeded.
The result? Look for things to get ugly going forward as the political animals tear each other down and an unsatisfied electorate refuses to throw in decisively behind any single candidate.
Look for the R's to hand President Obama the election.
Hillary: WaPo floated her as VP again, expanding the field of professional D's that are flirting with a subversive assault on the Obama machine. This will be the real story of the election cycle, I'm afraid. Will they keep Obama or whisper in his ear that he needs to go back to Chicago and look into running for King of the World, because as President it just isn't working out.
And for Patriots: Prep harder. It matters who we send into office this November, but we will not be able to send anyone who is able to thwart the coming ugliness.

2012 is time to start to Arrest and Try for Treason those who are 'infringing' or otherwise making themselves repugnant to the Constitution.
And let's not forget the 'enforcers'. Swearing to support and defend the Constitution, then bearing arms against those same principles is as heinous a form of treason as can be imagined.
