Along those lines, Mike C (who won the Benchmade folder a few weeks ago) sent this link for a widget that allows you to send video from a camcorder directly to the web.

And on those lonely moments when it is only you & LEO, and he has an agenda, here is a starting point for apps that allow you to stream live from your cell phone the encounter to the web.  If you stream it live, he can't erase vital evidence after having his way with you.

Consider this ahead of time, folks.  Maybe rig a mount for your phone on the dash and the moment you start to see the whirling lights, put your phone in the cradle and start streaming it.  Maybe even a Tweet of your location to the rest of your Tribe...

Resist.

Gerber & more...

Folks, I am very, very thankful for everyone who has agreed to submit and has already submitted to the III SHTF Weapons project.  We have rec'd several first class submissions already, and more are coming.

I won't recite a list of participants until we publish, but I am very proud to be in such company.

Submissions: Please keep any submissions exclusive, folks - rather than releasing on your blogs and elsewhere so consumers have a reason to purchase the final product.

Kerodin Update

Parts of my life are rather public - some by choice, others not so much.

But, it is what it is.

From time to time I will offer a brief status update on various aspects of my life that are public, to keep you in the loop.

America527/III Percent Political Organization: I like the trajectory that we are on as a group.  More than 4 dozen of you have stepped up to the plate and thrown some cash into the pot - some of you have done it more than once.  Such things take time, and we will reach our goals.  We are handing out III to Liberty in Virginia and on the Hill, and many of you are handing out the book to locals.  We've added patches, t-shirts, stickers, hats, business cards to the gear offerings (iiigear.com).  We expect the business cards and shirts in our shop soon, and as usual, we'll turn around and get them out to you as soon as we get them.  If you've ordered a combination of items (like a shirt/stickers/patch) we'll send it all out at one time.

III SHTF Project: This firearms book is a vehicle to build bridges into the broader firearm community and to raise funds for the 527 - I am very pleased with the number of folks in our community who are stepping up and taking the time to write a review of their SHTF weapons.  We have already received several pieces and they are excellent.  My next step is to reach into the broader gun community and see if we can get some of them to write and play our reindeer games.  This is a fun project for me.

Kerodin work life: I am very fortunate that I get to work from my home office most of the time, with my wife and dogs constantly with me.  (That's why you'll see posts on the blog at all hours).  In addition to my III work (which is purely a personal agenda) I am putting the finishing touches on my next fiction piece, which I have built around a III premise (also great fun for me).  We'll also be publishing another book on fashion models in the early summer, and a magazine for a charity drive in the DC area later in the year.

The Kerodin HVAC System: I have a very long association with the HVAC business. I started working on residential and light commercial machines when I was 18, and have been employed in every aspect of the business, including owning my own companies. I recently put the final touches on a brand new system design that eliminates the outdoor section of the residential system (the big box in the back yard with the compressor in it that makes your electric meter spin like a frisbee in the summer). My new system is green, eliminates the compressor-based components, eliminates caustic refrigerants, reduces electrical consumption by 80%, and extends the lifetime of the primary components of the system to about 40 years - no more replacing the system every 12-15 years.  Oh - and it is cheaper to install than any system today.

The components of my system have been tested in my "lab". The next step is to get some corporate support and install a fully operational prototype. We are working on that now. You can look for the entire established HVAC industry to come gunning for me soon - this system is equivalent to making a car that runs on water...

By the way - I did not design my new system because I am a tree-hugging hippie. I designed it because I am a pure-bred Capitalist, and I'd like to let my wife live the rest of her life without worrying about money.

Kerodin v. ServiceMagic, et al.: As most of you know my wife and I have a civil lawsuit in the works against ServiceMagic, one of their subsidiaries and the CEO of the subsidiary.  That is moving forward, but the wheels turn slowly in the courts.  I've given links to the complaint in the past, no need to do so again.  One thing most of you know about me: I won't quit, I will never surrender, and I will be loud about it...at the proper time.

Hiro and Hana are doing fine, though bored.  Akitas are bred to hunt bear, boar and deer, and in my little suburban yard they are reduced to killing squirrels, mice and the random bird that screws up.  They invite neighborhood dogs into range all the time, but the word is out and they don't get many takers...

Holly is well, and anything I write will quickly become plagiarized by Hallmark, so I won't go there.

So, there you have it, the Kerodin version of the annual update.

Using Greed to Break Capitalism

I am an unabashed Capitalist.

A republic, combined with Capitalism, in a country of moral and ethical people who respect Jefferson's definition of Liberty, is as close to Utopia homo sapiens will every achieve.

Today we have a group of six elected politicians in the US Congress who are putting forth legislation to impose a "Reasonable Profits Board", with the power to tax oil companies as much as 100% on profits.

Such politicians are neither republicans (small r) or Capitalists.

They are not American.

They have sworn an oath to the Constitution, which they violate.  That makes them Traitors.

And until We the People rid ourselves of such genetic filth, we will continue to suffer as slaves.

I have my thoughts on the topic, and I refuse to play their game.

My Tribe is Constitutionalists, and those who subscribe to the ideals of Liberty enshrined in the Declaration and Bill of Rights.  Those are the defining characteristics of my Tribe.

Everyone else is dead weight on Liberty.

III SHTF Book: I am very, very pleased thus far with the submissions we've received and the writers who have signed-on for the project.  Bloggers - I have only sent a small number of invitations thus far, please don't feel slighted if you haven't been asked to participate yet.  I'll send more out this afternoon.  I hope that every one of our bloggers will participate, and we are being joined by some very excellent names from the broader gun blog community as well.  You don't have to wait for me to ask, folks - just assume you are invited. 

Readers/Commenters - you are invited as well.  You don't have to have a blog to participate.  Just write a piece about the rifle/handgun and/or knife you'd grab if you were suddenly forced to rush out of the house into an unknown situation. Feel free to include your Go Bag in the column and/or pics.

Title: I have no idea what the title will be yet.  Right now I'm using III SHTF Firearms as the working title.  I welcome suggestions.

Distribution: We will not be selling wholesale copies to hand out to gun shops with this book - the distribution will be handled via traditional publishing channels.  We will make it available for wholesale bulk for those who want it.  It will be available at brick & mortar bookstores, gun shops, gun shows, and Amazon.

One note about the long arm of the law: If you carry against the will of your Masters, do not out yourself in a book.  Use a psuedonym, or write without giving your favorite LEO probable cause...or, my friends, F 'em and stand tall.  Just think it through.

Tone: This book is Pro-2A.  Let's not make it more political than that. 

More to come as I think of it.  We are already receiving finished pieces, and I am very pleased.  Let's do this, folks.  This is action.  This is doing something.  It doesn't cost you anything, and it helps us build our pro-2A message.

III: Job Offer

Folks, I know money is tight these days.  Some in our community are under-employed, unemployed, and perhaps the outlook is bleak.

I have an opportunity for you to consider.  It is open to anyone and everyone who wants the opportunity.

I discussed our Gun Review project with my wife, who most of you know runs a small publishing house.  She is the brain in the house and has agreed to help monetize the project so we can, hopefully, dump some real revenue into the 527.

Here's the deal: Think of your favorite "Annual" gun magazine that has a catalog of all the latest and greatest guns for sale in the back.  These annual editions usually throw in a few general stories, then hit the magazine racks for $10-$15.

We'll take that model and expand it a bit, and tailor it to our goals.  The core of our project will be as we have discussed - your #1 rifle/handgun/knife when a SHTF moment hits.  We'll review these choices for the broader gun community, from our perspective.  (We've already had our first submission and it is dead-on perfect for what I want.  He calls it is "Get Home Gun" and its purpose is exactly what it soundls like - if SHTF while he is out in the world, he has his chosen tool with him to get home to family.)

Beyond the core of our project we'll add a catalog section that will get the manufacturers all hot and bothered.  We'll focus on a few pieces of gear that most of us like to keep in our Go Bags.  Those brief columns will get the accessories companies hot & bothered.

Finally, we'll add a nationwide directory of dealers for everything from guns to gear.  We'll lay out the directory by state, so that even your local East Egypt gun shop has an interest in being in the directory.  Of course his web address will be part of the listing.

OK folks, now you see this is a BIG project from where I sit.  The good news is that I already have quite a bit of it done, from the Go Bag project I have been developing for a while. (Remember Lauren, above?).  What we will produce is a genuinely useful shooting and SHTF resource that will help us reach far beyond our III community and into the NRA arena, the Prepper arena, and beyond.

This product will end up somewhere between an annual magazine edition and a Shooter's Bible in size.  It will be a trade paperback (a softcover) 8x10, so it will be very much like a thick magazine.

Of course, we'll brand the heck out of our III blogs, and dump all the proceeds into America527 so we can buy radio ads, and whatever else we decide to do to advance Liberty.

Here's the Job Offer: Your local gun shops, surplus stores, prep supply shops, et cetera should all be interested in being listed in the Directory.  They are all prime candidates for buying display ads as well.

Additionally, there are tens of thousands of potential advertisers for such a publication that you can reach from your keyboards.

I know many of you probably don't have formal sales experience, and that should not put you off for a single second.  Successful salesmen never try to sell.  They simply have an opportunity that is good for the customer and good for the boss, which makes it a no-brainer.

Whatever your job history, you have the most important part of sales: Customer Service experience.  Whether you are an auto mechanic, a trucker, or a lawyer, every single interaction with a customer is sales.

You also have another HUGE advantage - you know this subject matter.  You know guns and gear.  You don't need to know much about the advertising/publishing world.  We can give you a business card and a Rate Card/Media Kit that you can download from your computer that tells the gun shop owner the important demographics - you just tell him it's a great opportunity, hand him the rate card, and let the rest happen.

Compensation: Payment is simple - you'll get a flat 25% of the gross revenue you generate, and you'll be paid the Friday following payment by the advertiser.  There are no benefits, nothing but a 1099 at the end of the year.  You'll have to give Uncle Sam whatever percentage you choose to give him.  ;)

I haven't worked out ad rates yet, but they'll be cheaper than advertising in ANY gun magazine. (A full page in Guns & Ammo, for example, is almost $40K and a full page in American Handgunner is about $8K)

We'll be in the $188 range for a simple Directory ad listing, and display rates for a full page will not make your local gun shop go into convulsions.

So - if you need income, here is the opportunity.  I hope if you need it, you'll take advantage of this project.  As much good as we might do by publishing a book that expands the III audience, in my opinion we will achieve even more if we are able to help a few of you cover your mortgage.

Patriots have only one remaining option...

You will remember that the Indiana Supreme Court ruled that resisting LEO as they enter your home, even if it is an illegal entry, is now a crime.

The majority of the Court decided that modern 4th Amendment jurisprudence (which translates to: What we the Courts have said the 4th Amendment means") is not conducive to resistance by Citizens in the face of armed criminal invasion by LEO.

So three members of the Indiana Supreme Court decided that the guys who wrote, ratified and supported the 4th Amendment were wrong.

Three black-robed Enemies of Liberty have made criminals of every Citizen who would dare sass a cop who is coming into the house, killing the dog, possibly shooting anyone who would dare pick up a vase as a defensive weapon in Indiana.

The issue has caused quite a bit of fuss in Indiana, but you might be surprised at the actual arguments.  I took the time to read many stories on the subject today, and a very large percentage of the Citizens who are complaining seem to be in agreement with the State Attorney General who stated: "Indiana law permits citizens to peaceably resist efforts of law enforcement outside the home, so citizens should have no less a privilege within their homes..."

Please note the words ...peaceably resist..."

The AG doesn't want the folks to be able to genuinely resist, only peaceably.  So, it is simply a sugar coating.

As I explore this topic today, combined with the story about NYPD and Pentagon working together to field scanners that will find guns on people in public places, combined with the general state of affairs, I am lead to a singular conclusion: The Enemies of Liberty will never cease or desist until they are dead.

Use that information as you will.

Wait for it...

Most of you know I am smaller than most men.  I never broke 125 pounds until I was in my 30's.  I can't bench press a truck...never even tried.  Since I was a kid I did have an over-active mouthy disposition, which, well, you can imagine how that turned out.

So I went into the martial arts at a young age, because shutting my mouth seemed to be off the table.  I became very good and I have earned paychecks from my skills.

Most people who decide to throw a fist at my head are bigger and stronger, many are faster, and these days, most are younger.  And yet, I still run my mouth.  Go figure.

Here is a simple premise, especially if you are going to get into a serious fight with someone.

If you have the chance, hit him with a Chevrolet.  Hard.  Twice.

If that fails and you've exhausted all of your stand-off options, please do not whine.  OK, so he's bigger, stronger, faster, younger, and probably even knows some of the things you know about where and how to hit people.  He may even be better looking.

You really only have one operational choice (assuming you've taken running away while screaming like a girl off the table): Let him attack.  In his attack he will present a soft spot.  You must identify that soft spot and then you must commit - hit it.  Hit it with everything you've got.  Hit it again and again and again.

You're outnumbered?  You're out-gunned?  You're out-manned?

Man up, hold your ground, and let him try to kill you.

Then, do it to him first.

But for the love of all things: Do not whine.
