Guest Post What's Next, Brutus? - Part Deux

This is in part a follow up to my previous article 'What next, Brutus?'. A commenter questioned it's brevity and wished I had provided more. I thank him for his interest and encouragement.

In the article, I had asked for the readers thoughts and hoped to start a discussion. Now I will add my thoughts.

We don't need to craft a new Declaration of Independence. We don't need to seat a Court to ascertain if our government has gone rogue. Our founding father gave us Explicit instruction should the government of the United State of America become tyrannical.

To paraphrase two great Americans, Cheech & Chong. If it looks, smells and taste like dog sh..tyranny then it is tyranny.

So being each of us members of a duly regulated militia, the only questions that remains is when and where?

We might as well get this war started. I suggest July 4th in Washington D.C., say ninish.

I am very serious. There are a few problems that stand in our way though. It is not our motives, dedication or devotion to our country. It is not even the logistics of fielding an army. To put it in simple terms, if we attack Washington this will cause the money to stop flowing, EBT cards stop working and we will have just caused the unintended deaths of millions of Americans.

Our tyrannical government knows it holds the lives of many Americans as hostage against our actions and this inability of ours to kill the innocent prevents our attack. So we are left with an impotent rage.

Never overestimate the government, they think that have us by the collar and under their control. They will continue with their agenda and present us with an opportunity to attack.

We know the government will use false flags, natural disasters even economic collapse to start their war on us. It may just be a semantics of blame but in the case of the government attacking us, the millions of lives lost, will rest on their necks.

We just need to learn patience and not let the feeling of ineffectiveness dampen our spirit. A hard part of any war is the wait.

So remain prepared, be vigilant, they will present us the opportunity we need and then, “let slip the dogs of war”.

To Tyrants our task is to increase his misery and weaken his ability and will to impose his Tyranny.

Power is Power. Courage is Courage. Man makes the Man, not his tools...

While he was leading his company against the enemy, his line came under heavy machinegun fire, which threatened to hold up the advance.

Followed by 2 soldiers at 25 yards, this officer went out ahead of his first line toward a machinegun nest and worked his way around its flank, leaving the 2 soldiers in front. When he got within 10 yards of the gun it ceased firing, and 4 of the enemy appeared, 3 of whom were shot by 1st Lt. Woodfill. The fourth, an officer, rushed at 1st Lt. Woodfill, who attempted to club the officer with his rifle. After a hand-to-hand struggle, 1st Lt. Woodfill killed the officer with his pistol.

His company thereupon continued to advance, until shortly afterwards another machinegun nest was encountered. Calling on his men to follow, 1st Lt. Woodfill rushed ahead of his line in the face of heavy fire from the nest, and when several of the enemy appeared above the nest he shot them, capturing 3 other members of the crew and silencing the gun.

A few minutes later this officer for the third time demonstrated conspicuous daring by charging another machinegun position, killing 5 men in one machinegun pit with his rifle. He then drew his revolver and started to jump into the pit, when 2 other gunners only a few yards away turned their gun on him. Failing to kill them with his revolver, he grabbed a pick lying nearby and killed both of them.

Inspired by the exceptional courage displayed by this officer, his men pressed on to their objective under severe shell and machinegun fire.

The man was not armed with a tacticool slick & tricked boomstick.

He had a 1903 Springfield.  That's a bolt-action rifle for those who need a serious lesson in the ways of killing men.  And a revolver.  And a pick.  And most importantly, his brain and balls.

For those who may be missing the point: If you do not have the courage to go forth and do that which you know how to do, and what must be done, then it won't get done.  At least, not by you...

Baltimore Man Shot In The Face for Attempting to Run Away and Hide From Police

If you live in a jurisdiction where LEO does not respect the basics of Natural Law, the Oath they took to support and defend the Constitution, and you as a Human Being - I would suggest you leave.

You can't defend yourself 24/7 from every possible injury they can impose.  You exist on their timeline, in their universe.  Every interaction - from a traffic stop, to an argument with your spouse, to refusing to look them in the eye - is an opportunity for you to get shot in the face.

And don't ever fucking run from such people unless it is a tactical withdrawal and you intend to defend yourself with great enthusiasms.  It only excites their lizard-brains when you run - resulting in the same face-shooting.

If you remain where you are considered nothing but meat, to be slaughtered wholesale or eaten one bite at a time, you need to leave, go to war, or STFU and never complain again.

Guest Post: What next, Brutus?

“From all our world, our younger generation will be tempered in the forge of war, struggle and derision. Their new country will stand on a foundation of our blood and the written words of their constitution will be by quill, dipped in their blood.”

A favorite pastime for me recently has been to study history. I am by no means a student of history but I do realize the truth of the old axiom "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." So the closest I come to possessing a crystal ball is by learning history.

Our founding fathers, some would consider them brilliant men, joined together to create three imperfect but amazing documents, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. But the war for independence was already being waged by the time they started crafting these documents. They went into battle with a firm idea of what they fought for, 'Freedom,' but no original foundation on which to build.

Feeling the heartbeat of today's Patriot movement, I am starting to see a meme arise in some discussions. Those Patriots that question what they are fighting for? They proclaim that the old constitution is so flawed as to be of no value today. They worry that we have no 'new' founding fathers, to whom will fall the duty of creating a new constitution. So if they can't rely on restoring the old constitution and creating a new constitution is beyond our capabilities, then what are they fighting for?

First thought is that they are defeatist, and we all know going into battle with that attitude will kill many. So I say lets start the discussion now, what is it we wish to leave the next generation?

Next generation? Yes, looking around me I realize a majority of us Patriots may not survive this war, so the fruit of this fight becomes, what we leave to our children.

Personally, I believe with whole heart that our 'old' Constitution should remain our law of the land. I say it did not fail us, we failed it. That 18th century document was created for individuals who strove for a moral life. The majority believed in God and self reliance, they understood what was just and the need to help their fellow man. We're they perfect, of course not, but that is what makes the Constitution so amazing.

I think the Constitution over time has suffered corruption, corruption that mirrors our society's devolution. The structure of the house maybe rotting but the foundation is whole and sound.

This is not about what I believe, but about having a conversation. About having a clear goal for which to strive and possessing the confidence of our convictions.

What do you say?

What do you fight for?

Grenadier1 Review: TERMN-8R Radio

AnyTone (The TERMN-8R manufacturer) is awaiting final details from FCC before releasing more TERMN-8Rs to sales/distribution channels.  They expect this to be resolved very soon.  If you have a TERMN-8R(s) ordered, we'll ship them as soon as they hit our shop.

Grenadier1 sent over his review of the radio, posted below.  We appreciate gear reviews from serious Patriots.

~~

The Three Percent society kindly provided me with a sample of the Termn-8r to do a review. I have had the device for a couple of weeks now and this is my thoughts on the general impression of the device and its performance.

Initial impression

Out of the box the unit is impressive. Its construction seems solid and rugged. You can feel that while this device is plastic it is a thick resistant plastic and I suspect it will sustain heavy use and treatment. It is not a water proof unit so keep that in mind. I think that would be the next step for Any Tone and one area I think they could improve on. The unit includes a battery, charger, antenna of the short rubber ducky style and a cheap ear piece. The battery and charger are pretty straight forward although one feature not normally found, is that you can obtain a second battery and it will rest and charge in the charger without the radio attached. This allows you to charge one while operating with the other. That’s a little touch but I like it.

Lay out of the controls is well thought out. The keypad is easy to operate and I found it large enough to work with a pair of gloves on. Drawing from other radio designs the Termn-8r places channel select, volume and power on pot switches arranged on the top of the unit. This allows for easy operations while the unit is in a pouch or clipped to a belt. Very much in line with the commercial or industrial use this unit may find itself in. There is also on the top of the radio a small “emergency” button. This can be configured via software to transmit an emergency message to other devices in the same talk groups. Again a nice little feature that could prove useful.

The PTT button is large and easy to key and slightly below it lie two additional push buttons that are user programmable. This is a good feature and the configurations are pretty wide. You can set one up to be a PTT for your second channel allowing you to monitor and talk on two different channels without fear of inadvertent cross talk.

The headset and mike cable are the Kenwood type two pin connector. This was a good choice as it is consistent with other low cost units on the market and many users will already own accessories that will mate up with the Termn-8r.

Operation

After unpacking and assembling the unit I powered it up. The display is clear and well lit. The key pad is back-lit as well so this will facilitate operation in low light conditions. You can configure the unit to display in a number of different ways. I set up the display to show the alphanumeric designations from the memory banks so that I could see the repeater designations. The display can show frequency, or alphanumeric names of the channels. Since this unit is capable of operating in various transmission modes the configurations can also be set to lock out changes to settings. This means that if you configure the unit as a commercial radio on a commercial license that it can be locked to only function on the set frequency and settings that you configure via software and cannot be modified in the field. While this might seem silly to the average operator, it's vital for commercial operations. This could be useful in a grid down setting to keep the units configured to a set range so that inexperienced users cannot inadvertently “brick” the radio. Most non radio people can understand “turn it on and push the talk button to call”. They don’t have a clue when you start to get into picking new frequencies and tones.

The TERMN-8R is capable of multiple frequency bands including Short wave. Air bands AM/FM commercial radio, 2M and 70cm amateur bands and weather radio. These are all set from the main keypad with normal power up operation.

The other modes of transmission are selected at power up so that you can chose to operate on the GMRS and MURS bands with the required limitations of those modes hard coded into the unit. This is different than other low cost units on the market and prevents you from doing scans of all the bands in long continuous sweeps. That could be a problem for some users but I think the other benefits of the device offset that configuration. As I mentioned the scanning of channels I will touch on that here. Its fast, at least faster than my other handheld. The speed can be adjusted so that you can set it to the level you want.

Transmission and reception is good. I had no issues hitting my local repeater. I have been able to reach a few other repeaters that were not accessible using my other low cost handheld. I currently lack equipment to really give the transmission and reception capabilities a good test so I can only speak from practical application but its to be expected that given similar set ups that a little more output power will be a benefit.

Programing

The software for the device is available from the Any Tone website so I downloaded it to a laptop. I have a programing cable for another radio that will work with this unit so I attempted to program a configuration. I had issues with this. I could not get the radio to talk to the software even following the instructions in the user manual. I intend to keep working with this and trying different options, however I wanted to get the local repeaters programed into the radio so I downloaded the latest version of CHIRP which has upgraded to work with the Any Tone units. Very quickly I was up and working and had the radio talking and uploading a configuration. Now CHIRP does not seem to control the vast number of options that the Any Tone software is set up to configure so I would recommend getting the manufacturer package to function if you can.

At this point I will touch on the big potential of this radio when we first read the spec sheets. FHSS. For those who are not aware FHSS or Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum is a technique to prevent unwanted surveillance of your conversation. Essentially it has the radio hopping across a spectrum of frequencies in a pattern controlled by a mathematical algorithm. Unless your radio has the same code set as a transmitting radio you will not be able to pick up the conversation. It takes very sophisticated gear, as in military grade SIGINT gear to pick up on the hopping. So this is a potentially good thing and something that had me really looking into this radio. Well unfortunately I can't find the information in the otherwise very good user manual on how to configure this option. There are mentions of it and options in the menus to enable it but it is not clear if this is actually taking place or what frequencies the radio is utilizing. The manual says the frequencies are set via the software although I have yet to see where this option is at.  Reading around on the internet tells me that this FHSS option is not really functioning like the name would imply and that something else is going on. The jury is still out on this and I am still working on getting it configured.

Conclusions

So out of the box the Termn-8R is a very fine radio. I think it is in the top of the class for the inexpensive Chinese handhelds. The inclusion of multiple bands and dual monitoring along with a host of other features are worth the additional costs associated with purchase. While I do think that there is work to be done by Any Tone I think over all the unit is solid. I would like to see the issue with the FHSS cleared up and corrected. I would like to see water and dust protection on the device and I would like to see the cost drop down to sub $100.00 on this unit. I think that would position the radio at a very good spot in the market. The radio is easy to use and while I did experience some issues programing the unit via software I was able to do set ups manually and with a non OEM software as a workaround. I fully expect to clear up the software issues since it very well could be my machine or some step I am missing. Your experience may be better in that regard.

So is this unit a must have? No I think there are other units out there that will do the job, however I think cost and complexity of the units matter with first time buyers. I would have no issue recommending this unit to a new Ham or a preparedness group looking to standardize. It has a group of features that I think are good to have in a single unit. It’s a rather straight forward unit to operate and it will interface with other lower cost radios like GMRS and MURS.

On a 1 to 10 scale I would rate it a solid 8.

Let the Bodies hit the floor...

As my banner image at the top of the blog indicates, I won't be posting much more today - maybe a quick-hit if something pops-off.  Gotta do a thing...

This post?  Yeah - sphincters are tightening among the more narcissistic and unproductive elements of the "community" right about now.  Actions have consequences.  Liars piss me the fuck off.

I've tolerated the back-channel shit too long - against my own instincts.

Now I'll respond as I see fit.  Anyone who has a problem with the Truth should probably not return here...

Heh - This tickled me from Kent:

Guest Post - The “Poor Me” Patriot: A Character Study

Has back-channel back-biting become a minor league sport in the III community?  Was it always this way?  Or, was I just too wide-eyed (read that as stupid) to notice?

In the world of men and women and the endeavors in which they dabble, to try is to sometimes fail. It is simply a fact of existence. Unless one goes through life managing to never take a risk, failure on some level is inevitable. Failure can be forgiven. In fact, most failures ought never to rise to the level of requiring forgiveness. Shake it off. Move on. Distill the teachable moments and persevere. You’ll do better next time. At least, that’s how it should work. But that’s not always so.

We have all met these so-called Patriots. You know them as the individuals for whom personal failure is somehow ALWAYS someone else’s fault. They embark on quiet crusades to curry favor, cripple relationships, and destroy alliances. It’s one of the hallmarks of the Poor Me Patriot. Absolutely fascinating to watch!

As a psychological archetype, these Poor Me People -- or “Career-Martyrs” (my made-up term) -- are intriguing character studies. These are the folks who have never seen a cross they couldn’t climb. Career-martyrs will readily sacrifice another’s reputation both to achieve and to shore-up coveted Victim-Status. There is a reliable payoff for running the “Victim Racket.” Victims are automatically absolved of any accountability for personal failings. The sly use of shifting blame to misdirect all attention from one’s own failings is the sharpest arrow in a Victim’s quiver.  And, it works!  For the Classic “Poor Me Personality” self-deception is usually so complete, chances are, they utterly believe their own tortured fabrications.

It’s a curious study in abnormal human psychology to observe the Sad-Sack, Poor Me Personalities who complain relentlessly about being forced to abdicate this or that throne of success because they were – you guessed it – Victims!  Listen long enough and one finds they are victims to nearly everything and everyone in their lives. Yet, it all happens MOSTLY at the level of the unconscious.

Poor Me Personalities usually live an unexamined life. They are strangers to themselves. But then again, self-deception does that. It causes permanent damage to the human psyche.  Poor Me Personalities know they’ve achieved success (not actual success, mind you, but scapegoats for why they cannot succeed) when others referring to them reflexively put “Poor” before their name.

I recently did a reality-check. It is impossible to make right others’ manufactured wrongs. To try is a fool’s errand. Truth becomes invisible when viewed through the prism of quaking personalities imprisoned by their own self-deception. Put such sad souls in the company of morally bankrupt saboteurs of anything not utterly self-serving, and no good ever comes of it.  Just sit back and watch the warped web of deceit. Dye-packs thrown into waters on eastern shores wash up in the west. One wonders as these “Patriots” preen with positive delight and bask in the glow of self-satisfaction, whether self-deception can be so complete that every last ray of truth forever eludes their personal event horizon.

To that I have no answer. I simply cannot say.

I can, however, say this: No III endeavor in which I am involved will be sacrificed at the altar of rumors wrapped in rancor, cloaked in convenient half-truths, and swaddled in simpering self-pity.  No III Endeavor in which I am involved will fall prey to the weak wailings of those who cry, “Woe is Me!” rather than “Where was *I* responsible?”

To such individuals I can only say: Do us all a favor.  Grow a spine. Do yourselves a favor. Grow a conscience. Want to sate your personal desires to assign blame?  Find a mirror.

Oh, and…

Old School - Got Walnuts? MRAP Killer...

The "Intelligence" skills training within the Patriot and specifically the III communities is much worse than a bad joke - it is bordering on criminal and existential incompetence.

There is a reason "Army Intelligence" is a punch-line.  Trying to incorporate bad doctrine, fundamentally premised on abundant taxpayer-provided resources and impractical, inefficient logistics, into the III Community is folly - dangerous fucking folly.

The primary missing component found in every modern 'graduate' of Huachuca I have met is common sense and experience in the real world (and Balls).  "Real World" is that world in which taxpayers do not finance everything being posited and layers of bureaucracy do not serve as magic wands.  Not to mention the subsequent byproduct of those 'experts' who lack basic skills - the 'analysis' presented that would be comical if not for the lives put at risk by any Patriot relying on such pablum.

I have advocated for many years that basic, blue-collar Intel work is what the III community must rely upon.  I have waited patiently for someone, anyone, with experience to step up and take point to help III Patriots set up operationally efficient and proficient Intel Shops based on Old School common sense and proven techniques, free of the useless doctrinal, strategic and tactical modalities of "modern Intelligence Training".

I can't wait any longer.  The level of Stupid being put forth to serious Patriots is intolerable.  All the acronyms, buzzwords, fancy institutionalized bullshit is ensuring real Patriots never get a serious Intel Operation up and running.  In my more cynical moments, I think that is the goal.  In my more generous moments, I think they are just dumb as fuck-all.

My personal experience in such matters (yes, I have paid my bills using such skills during portions of my mis-spent youth, beyond merely my martial skillset) and the team I am assembling of serious professionals is going to begin working with III Teams in the near-future on the local, local, local level to help you set up real Intel Shops that have real capabilities.  We will be doing this free.  It is too important and time sensitive to do any other way.  We'll focus to a degree on what some of us have done in our own respective AOs.

Just consider all the posts, columns, comments you have read and Intel Classes for which you have paid, with all of the elaborate schemes put forth to accomplish what is, at the most fundamental level, a simple f'n task: Incapacitating a piece of OpFor machinery.  You've been told you need fancy widgets, comprehensive acronym-titled skills, detailed, mapped and over-analyzed minutia, and maybe heroic Sniper skills with a .50 BMG, a chemical degree and the thievery skills of a magical Elf to acquire all the chemicals you'll need in your secret bunker-lab, to accomplish a simple bit of mischief.

Yet with (essentially) crushed walnuts, a condom, and a set of Balls (Man Balls or the Lady variety), you can accomplish your goals.

The video above demonstrates the simple realities involved.  If you and/or your Team has Balls, we can teach you the rest, based on personal, real-world experience.

We will do so.

Free.

You'll be reading more about "III OSS" during the summer.  We've got the draft of the Field Manual nearing final form, and we'll make it available on Kindle and in dead-tree form.  It is a step-by-step manual covering the full scope of running a potent Shop based on a tailored OSS Model.  If you read about it anywhere else, you will know you are reading jacked material.  ;)

Opera, non verba.  That's what we do here.  We have no time for circle-jerkers and people who only want to play at being Patriots, like some 3D role-playing game.

We'll announce more details soon.  In the meantime, watch closely for how many "Experts" poo-poo this concept, and watch other "Professional Trainers" begin to adopt what you see here, in future blog and forum posts, and at whatever live events they manage to beg their way into.  The number of "Trainers" worth your time and money is remarkably few in this community.  I know 4.

Fuck.  I hate the Stupid.

I have held since I was about 18 that the longer someone spends in college or at University, the dumber they get.  The same holds for the "Specialists" in the world.  They get so wrapped-up in their 'expertise' that reality becomes a distant notion.  Humans are not meant to be 'Specialists' - not at the exclusion of basics.  Ever met a brain surgeon who can change a flat tire?  Cue your Heinlein.

More to follow.

Buy some walnuts.

Surround yourselves with Men (and women) who have Balls.  That's all you need.

Fuck.
