Solid 9 of 10.
ReplyDeleteI use S&B quite a bit, and have a pretty good amount stashed away as well.
I just started using PPU and its quite good as well in every caliber I have used thus far
I've only shot a few boxes. Perhaps 150 rounds. I had issues with either two out of those 150. One primer fail and one feeding issue.
ReplyDeleteI have had two primers fail out of probably 700 rounds fired. Both were from the same box, so I wrote that off as possibly a bad batch.

1/10. They loaded their .303 British with .308 diameter projectiles, instead of .311 diameter projectiles. Accuracy sucks. Their primer pockets are shallow, making reloading a major labor intensive effort.
ReplyDeleteI bought quite a bit of it in 7.62x33. I still feel that it is a lighter charge than say LC, priced about the same too. So, servicable-5. No info on other calibers.

ReplyDeleteHaven't tried their rifle rounds, but have tried a few pistol calibers in FMJ for 'range rounds' and run through a good 600-700. Didn't have any issues with them, so I can't say anything negative. However, when it comes to my life on the line rounds, I'm loading Speer Gold Dot or Federal Hydra Shock.
I've shot a bunch of their 45 acp and 380 acp. Never had a problem with them and reloadeded all the 45. Find it on sale and I'd give it a 10.

The 5.56 PPU brass sometimes has some real issues in reloading. The rim is too thick to actually fit into a case holder. This used to be a real issue for me with about half the PPU brass I would reload, whether it was my own or purchased in a bag as once fired. It also would occasionally cause some miss-feeds and jams especially in my piston AR. Over the last year however it seems to be becoming rare. Other than 5.56 I love Selliers and Bellot ammo in every caliber I have used it in. My 7.62 x whatever firearms get fed pretty much nothing else.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry I would give em an 8 or a 9 out of 10 for everything but 5.56 and a 5 for that one until I see no issues for a while.
ReplyDeleteOver the years I've used quite a bit of their FMJ pistol calibers (45 & 9) as practice fodder (but not carry ammo) and haven't had problems with it. I reload the 45 brass, and that works, too. So, 8 of 10, maybe? I certainly won't hesitate to buy more -- and if all I had available was their FMJ to put in my 45, I wouldn't be too worried.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, I've never tried any of their rifle cartridges.

Bought a case each of 556 and 9 some time ago, no problems for me (price was right and found quality to be good). I use some of their 357 as carry ammo, again no complaints. I would rate as 8.
ReplyDelete8/10,
ReplyDeleteDecent bulk pack type ammo at sane prices. Used it in a variety of calibers and ever had any issues with it. Not my first choice for 'go' ammo but there is some stashed in my cans.
I use their 7.62 x 25 quite a lot, I've had one with a bad primer in about 500 rounds., I also use their 6.5 x 55, after 1,200 rounds, no issues, good solid factory fodder.
ReplyDeleteIt appears consistent but somewhat underpowered IMHO
