Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap...

...we should soon want bread.

And your children in school would eat moldy, rotten food.  Link to the story.

I have said consistently that all the answers we need to return America back toward our founding ideals can be found in our past.  Mister Jefferson's "sow & reap" quote is certainly applicable to school lunches, and nearly every other issue into which FedGov inserts itself.

The days of the Renaissance Man are over.  The body of knowledge is simply too vast for any one man to master, anymore.  As we all know, our world is today one of specialties.  The odds that your pediatrician performs surgeries are nearly nil.  The odds that your plumber can properly repair your roof are slim.  This specialization is a net-negative for mankind.  The mental processes that lead one to think that specialization is good is the same mental process that permits the average man to stand aside in self-doubt instead of stepping forward to right a wrong in his midst.  That is someone else's job. I've never lifted a car off a person before, better wait for the rescue squad.  I've never balanced a federal budget, better leave it to the experts.

Most of you who read this blog have probably muttered the same sentiment I did: Hokum!

Most of us believe a man should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

No, very few Humans will ever be as proficient in brain surgery as they are in Astrophysics - but that isn't the point.  Nor is excelling in one pursuit a bad thing - so long as one never surrenders a base-level of competence in the rest of the skills necessary to life.

I hold common sense as the rarest and most valuable trait among most Americans today.  In my life I have found there are particular groups of Americans who have common sense in abundance, and there are many groups among us who seem abjectly bereft.

If you possess common sense, you already know what must be done to save our country, our ideals, and the future for our posterity.  If you have found yourself holding back for any reasons - it's time to push through that mental block and begin applying heavy doses of common sense to everyone and everything around you.

You know what must be done to eliminate the Stupid from our midst.

Let's do it.

  1. Yeah. I know exactly what must be done. Get rid of more than half the people in this country, because at least half are floating thru life on the sweat of others labor. If the country cannot rid itself of the parasites, then the only other option is to leave the country. Or, we can all just slowly be bled dry until everyone is poor and there's no one left to take from.

  2. Very well said! I/We are tired of contributing only to support the leeches who are capable with the assistance of the Feds and states of legally stealing what we produce.

  3. Having spent 20 years and change as a professional chef-there is no excuse for moldy buns,or cheese,or anything else unfit to eat ever making it out of a kitchen-that applies to ANY commercial kitchen.
Allowing shit like that to be served is due to incompetence or laziness-or both.
It ain't rocket science-you rotate stock-the first product in is the first product out-my 6 year old granddaughter understands that concept.
This means that the people running public school food service are incompetent and/or lazy.
Another product of the leftist takeover of K-12 public education combined with affirmative action and SEIU/teacher's unions-hire people based not on qualifications for the job-but on hiring quotas.
In some fields-experience counts-it maters much more than if you have the politically correct number of protected classes-you wouldn't want a contractor who was hired based on his or her status as a protected class, who had little to no qualifications for the job to build your home would you?
Why would anyone want unqualified,and/or lazy people to be responsible for feeding their children lunch.
The USDA "guidelines" are bad enough, and schools are blackmailed into compliance under threat of witholding federal funding.
When schools were run by local districts-we didn't have this bullshit-kids got hot lunches that had what growing kids need to eat to be healthy. We had very few fat kids back then, kids went outside and played, they got exercise-they didn't play video games 24/7.
"Childhood obesity" is due to a lack of exercise-plain and simple.
We do not need the government forcing all kids to eat a "diet lunch"-we need the government to just get out of education, and out of demanding schools put all kids on a diet lunch because there are some fat, lazy kids who most likely have fat, lazy parents.
And that's just dealing with the moldy food problem.
