Mark Zuckerburg & Kim Phúc
Mark Z. at FB banned this photo across his entire platform. It was suddenly gone.
Does not that level of control and power offend you?
Fact: Mark is FB. It is his property and he may do as he so chooses. It is his private property.
That does not mean you need to stay there.
Instead of trying to force Mark to conform to your definitions, which is tyranny, should you not instead simply leave his property if you are offended?
If you think you are a Patriot while at the same time screaming that Mark must surrender his control of his property, you are wrong. You are not only wrong, you have no understanding of private property or the freedom of association. Shame on you.
Here's the piece.

Every free man, by definition, has the right to refuse association of any type or kind with tyrants. Period.
ReplyDeleteSerfs and slaves, on the other hand, must abide by the will of their lord and master.
But even he who is free, must choose a master for himself - even be that himself. And while he may choose freely, he is bound by his choice none the less. Therefore, wise counsel is there in choosing a master who is Incorruptible and True -
"Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. For my yoke is sweet and my burden light." -- MATTHEW 11:28~30
"Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you. I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you." --John 15:13~15
Witness the Master who would call you His friend, and wishes only that you be His friend also - in your words and in your deeds; He it is, who calls to you, and awaits your answer; He it is, in whose friendship True Peace is to be found.
Frankly, that fucking photograph has been way overplayed. And it's obvious at this point that intervention in Vietnam by the Unites States was wrong on many levels. Mark Z owns Facebook. He can do what he wants with it. You have the right to participate on it or not. In my opinion it's useful and I will continue to use it until it's not. :-)
ReplyDeleteAgreed. We had no business in Vietnam. As for FB, I never interact there, but I use it for links once in a while. Google is likely to shut down blogs just as FB will continue to censor. As long as we all rely on the other guy's infrastructure we are vulnerable.
DeleteIn case some don't know, the picture is the result of a South Vietnamese Air Force strike which was off target.
ReplyDeleteKim Phuc: I wished I died in that attack with
my cousin, with my south Vietnamese soldiers.

Fact vs Fiction

#8 Myth: Kim Phuc, the little nine year old Vietnamese girl running naked from the napalm strike near Trang Bang on 8 June 1972.....shown
a million times on American television....was burned by Americans bombing Trang Bang. Fact: No American had involvement in this incident near Trang Bang that burned Phan Thi Kim Phuc. The planes doing the bombing near the village were VNAF (Vietnam Air Force) and were being flown by Vietnamese pilots in support of South Vietnamese troops on the ground. The Vietnamese pilot who dropped the napalm in error is currently living in the United States. Even the AP photographer, Nick Ut, who took the picture, was Vietnamese. The incident in the photo took place on the second day of a three day battle between the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) who occupied the village of Trang Bang and the ARVN (Army of the Republic of Vietnam ) who were trying to force the NVA out of the village. Recent reports in the news media that an American commander ordered the air strike that burned Kim Phuc are incorrect. There were no Americans involved in any capacity. "We (Americans) had nothing to do with controlling VNAF," according to Lieutenant General (Ret) James F. Hollingsworth, the Commanding General of TRAC at that time. Also, it has been incorrectly reported that two of Kim Phuc's brothers were killed in this incident. They
were Kim's cousins not her brothers.
